You can usually tell when a child has gone through hell and back just by looking in their eyes. I saw nothing but life, happiness, and strength in this little girls eyes.

This is Mia.

She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in November 2011 just a couple weeks before her 2nd birthday. Her tumor is called a Astrocytmoa – she has spinal lesions of the same tissue type as well.

She has been on her current treatment since July 2012. Her last 2 MRI’s have shown that everything is stable and her family members are thrilled that the tumors/lesions are responding to treatment.

May was pediatric brain tumor awareness month. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is an AMAZING state of the art pediatric hospital that has been making some amazing strides in cancer research and treatment. Please support great pediatric programs like the ones Lurie’s offers.
